2019–2020 CHS Honors & Awards Ceremony Video
CHS teachers and administrators are trying to provide ways of helping the seniors have some of the same experiences that they would have enjoyed before the coronavirus arrived. One of these was to videotape the annual Award Ceremony in Catalina’s beautiful auditorium without the students present but with 2 full columns of balloons. CHS Foundation Co-Presidents Stephen Gin and Jennifer Bond presented the Foundations scholarship awards and the Centurian Award winners. The Scholarship recipients will receive $1,000 each and the Centurian award winners have received 4500 each and a full-page acknowledgment in the yearbook. Jennifer Miranda is the College and Career Readiness Counselor. She mounted a terrific campaign to increase the numbers and percentages of seniors filling out the FASFA and also announced that an impressive 83% of CHS seniors were admitted to a university or college. Congratulations to all of them. Please note the video of the award ceremony will be premiered TODAY (Friday, May 15) at 6:00 PM on the Catalina High School Facebook page Facebook.com/catalinahighschool.
The Catalina High School Foundation Scholarship recipients are:
Brian Lopez
Marina Mendivil
Halianna Piller
The Centurian Award winners are:
Jennifer Miranda, College and Career Readiness Counselor
Timber Bedorehfar, Student recipient
ALSO note that the CHS Seniors will have a drive-by ceremony in the parking lot of Catalina on Thursday, May 21 from 7–9 PM. A delegation of teachers and administration officials will be there to hand out goodie bags and cheer them on. The general public is not invited to attend because of the need to social distance. The in-person graduation is scheduled for mid-June.
